/privacy

This is a personal site. It has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no shop, so there is very little to tell you.

Cookies

No cookies are set for advertising. Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_***, which hold a random number so a returning browser can be told apart from a new one. Both last two years. Cloudflare sits in front of the site and setscf_clearance to tell humans from bots.

Analytics

Traffic is measured with Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager. It records which pages get visited, roughly which part of the world the visit came from, and which browser and device were used. Advertising features, personalisation and ad measurement are all denied, so none of it feeds ad targeting.

Google acts as the processor for that data. Their handling is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. Analytics only loads after you interact with the page, or after the browser goes idle.

Cloudflare Web Analytics also runs on the site, added by the same Cloudflare service that sits in front of it. It measures page loads and performance without cookies and without fingerprinting, and is covered by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

What is never collected

No personally identifiable information (PII) is saved on this website.

Content loaded from elsewhere

Some pages pull in material hosted by other people: photographs from Unsplash, book covers and records from an AT Protocol server, code examples embedded from CodePen. Loading those means your browser contacts those services directly, and they will see your IP address. Only the pages that show such content make those requests.
